~~Pastor Rick has  served as Senior Pastor since August of 2012. He and his wife Julie have lived in Wamego since 1998 coming from Springfield Missouri where they served at Second Baptist Church and National Heights Baptist Church. Rick has served in many ministries.He was called as Minister of Music from 2002 to 2011 at Trinity Baptist. Since 2011 he as served as a  Mission Pastor for Embrace Westmoreland Kansas, a ministry of New Life Baptist Church.He also served as Youth Pastor for the Chaplain's Office at Fort Riley Kansas,(2008-2013) and a Youth for Christ Missionary (certified).

Julie has served at Trinity Baptist Church (2009-2013) as Evangelism Director,she also served for 9 years for an assisted living facility as the Activity Director and conducts a bible study ministry there. Julie spends her time connecting with as many senior citizens in our area as she can. She has a love for seniors and wants to see them stay in their home as long as they can! 

Rick is a member of the Spurgeon Baptist Association, and serves on the Administrative Team as Treasurer for Flint Hills Baptist Association.

Rick and Julie spending time with family and grandchildren, Julie enjoys going to auction and Rick enjoys "pasture pool".

Pastor Hernandez also serves as the CEO/Executive Director of Flints Hills Community Clinic.

He has studied at Baptist Bible College, Evangel Christian College and Founders Ministries as well as Spurgeon log college and has a Masters of Science in Organizational Leadership.

He loves to read books from authors such as James P. Boyce, Jonathan Edwards, Charles Spurgeon, George Whitfield, Arthur Pink, J.I.Packer, Ian Murray, J.L.Dagg and contemporaries such as John Piper, R.C.Sproul, Matt Chandler, John MacArthur, Francis Chan  and Mark Dever. He considers himself a perpetual student of life being lead by the Holy Spirit, the Mighty Counselor.

 Pastor Hernandez and Julie have 5 adult children 4 of them married and 5 grandsons and 2 granddaughters.

They believe that the Lord has put them here to serve this body and this community, and look forward to seeing God grow them and the church at New Life.
